Job: I Was Just A Man: Male Lead Required!
About the job:
Hello all, hope you are all well. I am an MA film studies student at the University of Essex, currently prepping for my dissertation assignment. I am looking to shoot my short film at the end of July and am looking to fill positions in both cast and crew.
The film "I Was Just A Man" explores male narcissism and delusions of grandeur. It has a contained script (single location, two actors) and will be shot in Bury St. Edmunds.
The story centers on a man with narcissistic personality disorder and his partner and how this condition affects both when they are confronted with a tragic event. There is also a slight element of fantasy/delusion involved.
About the participants:
Character Bios:
Dan. Dan displays the typical characteristics of an NPD sufferer. He is self-involved, overly sure of himself, and has little interest in the people around him. His mother has recently died and we explore how his condition manifests on the day of her funeral. He also experiences intermittent fantasies eluding to a greater purpose.
- Aged 20-30
- Any ethnicity
- Preferably tall, muscular, well-groomed.

Job Rate:
Unfortunately, this is an expenses-only project but am able to cover travel, food, and hopefully a place to stay. And, of course, the film will be available for your use in showreels, etc. Auditions will take place w/c July 5th in Bury St. Edmunds (exact date to be confirmed) but I am open to self-taped/ video call auditions. Script available upon request.
