Job: London. £150.Voice Actor.A British actor with an authentic London accent for the main character (Christopher).
About the Project /Job:
LOOKING FOR A VOICE ACTOR
A radio-style anthology series of morality tales with supernatural and sci-fi elements (in the vein of Twilight Zone, Inside No. 9, Tales of the Unexpected, Black Mirror, etc.). Our aim is to be highbrow but entertaining. We so far have a collection of scripts and are part way through recording the series. We will aim to launch, promote and grow the podcast later in the year.
Currently in the casting process for the final episodes, set in the UK. Right now, we are looking for a British actor with an authentic London accent for the main character (Christopher). We're looking for natural, true-to-life acting as opposed to stylized.
The character of Christopher is a somewhat gruff man in his early 60s. He came from a tough working-class background and was a career criminal as a young man. He feels guilty about being an inadequate father but tries to make up for it with his granddaughter who he dearly loves. Throughout the story, Christopher goes on an intensely emotional journey which begins with a heartfelt goodbye on what he thinks is his deathbed. He is then awoken - forcefully resurrected to face trial for the crimes of his past, forced to confront his new reality and the notion that he might never be able to see his loved ones again. Christopher needs to be sympathetic to the audience, and so warmth is more important than gruffness.
The audition lines are as follows:
1) I love you too, sweetie. More than you could ever know. More than all the flowers in the world. [Terminally ill, near to death; speaking lovingly to his granddaughter]
2) Who the hell do you think you are?! You don’t know respect. You don’t know what it was like for people like me growing up. I didn’t have money, I didn’t have any opportunities. So what? I nicked some stuff. [Passionately, angrily and vulnerably defending himself against judgmental prosecutor]
3) Death? What do you mean death?! What about my family? I want to see my family! This can’t be real… I can’t take this… help me. [Reacting to being sentenced to death and knowing he won't see his family again]
