Despite his desire for a better life and a family, he is haunted by the choices he’s made and the person he’s become. His emotional detachment, paired with an explosive anger toward Grace and their deteriorating relationship, leads to a tense confrontation with her. As the end of the world looms, Gareth is confronted with the truth of his failures—both as a man and a husband. His character arc centres around regret and the possibility of redemption, if only he can make peace with his past before time runs out.
