Synopsis: Matt is a poignant drama that follows the story of Matt, a young man struggling with depression, anxiety, and the pressures of modern life.
The play takes place in a seaside resort town called Great Yarmouth where Matt is surrounded by his family, friends, and a community that doesn't seem to understand his struggles.
However, when Matt meets his therapist, he begins to open up about his feelings and experiences, ultimately finding the strength to confront his issues and seek help.
Themes: The play explores themes of mental health, the stigma surrounding mental illness, the impact of social pressure, and the importance of reaching out for help. The play has some dark and sensitive scenes.
It also touches on the power of human connection, the need for empathy and understanding, and the challenges faced by young adults as they navigate the complexities of modern life.
Setting: The play takes place in a seaside resort town located on the east coast of England, in the county of Norfolk, called Great Yarmouth with scenes set in Matt's home, a local hospital, and his therapist’s treatment room.
The setting is designed to reflect the familiar and often suffocating environment that can exacerbate the challenges of mental illness.
