Job: Brighton. Now Casting: Male Actor for Tigger in 'A.A. Milne’s Winnie-the-Pooh' Stage Adaptation
About the Project /Job:
Project Title: “A.A Milne’s Winnie-the Pooh”
- A brand-new stage adaptation of the classic stories. Using actors, puppets and a range of props and furniture, the Hundred Acre Wood will come to life before our audiences’ eyes.
We are seeking actors who feel they can bring these rich and cosy characters to life.
- Whilst no puppeteering experience is necessary, actors will need to be prepared to use not only vocal skills, but also the ability to translate their physicality into our specially crafted puppets to bring them to life. We want you to bring everything you’ve got to make magic for audiences young and old!
This will be a wonderfully traditionally styled production, with no cartoonish Disneyfied touches. Think of it as Christopher Robin’s playroom come to life…more War Horse than Avenue Q!
Role: Tigger
About the Character:
- Bouncy, bouncy, bouncy! Tigger is perhaps the most physical of all the characters, and as a result, he will never be on his feet. He will always have a spring in his “step”, with the puppet spending his time bouncing on his tail.
- The actor portraying Tigger will need to convey the energy and exuberance, as well as being frustrating and trouble making. Chaos personified please!
Male presenting actor preferred
Qualifications:
- All of the above roles will require quite a large amount of physicality, ensuring the focus is on the puppets to bring the characters to life. All roles are open to male, female or non-binary actors, but preferences are marked.
Playing ages are not given as *whispers* they are toys!
The show is specially commissioned by BOAT and will also be part of the Brighton
Location & Date:
Brighton Open Air Theatre
Performances: 28th-31st may 2025 (2pm)
Theatre / dress rehearsal: 27th may 2025 (timing tbc)
Puppet rehearsals: Sundays 9th & 16th march (tbc based on puppet construction)
Regular rehearsals: Thursdays 7-10pm / sundays 11am-5pm from 3rd april
