About the Project /Job:
Project Title: 'Rolling Forward'
- A coming-of-age, emotive, drama student film with themes surrounding, community, found family and belonging, identity and escapism, and to bring this all together using skating. Logline: About an older skater who is fostering a teenager; how they navigate their shared struggles and find solace in the community around them, with skateboarding serving as the bond that drives their journey toward healing.
Made by a group of passionate filmmakers looking to not only create something visually amazing but tell an emotive meaningful story. With the final filmed outcome, production aims to bring a not-so-subtle awareness to child domestic abuse, and the struggles for youth's face in the care system, whilst remaining tactful and aware, as well as shining a positive light on representing men's mental health in all stages of their life; as they represent with our two main characters, an older adult and a young teen. "Rolling Forward" uses the art, skill and patience of skateboarding as the key that pulls the characters together through their difficulties, a further nod to the skating community, where the older members typically look out for the younger members.
